Religious Studies Faculty

The religion faculty of the Philosophy and Religion Department represent a wide range of interests.

The Major (33 Credits)

Today the academic study of religion must be global in scope. It must encourage the student to consider issues from many different perspectives and to investigate the religious cultures of peoples around the world. This new major exposes students to the religious traditions of every continent as well as to a wide range of interpretive schools. Narrative, ritual, ethics, poetry, philosophy and theology will all be included in this new program. Hermeneutical and phenomenological diversity are the central themes of this major. New courses have been added and others updated or re-titled to make this program of study multidimensional and universal.
