May 24: Demonstrating Student's Best Practices

June 1: I Wish I Took Better Notes

Instructors need to share a student’s assignment with the class to generate a discussion forum; however, the document is only available in hard copy form. Using scanning technology, instructors can create an electronic version of this document creating a best practice example to display to the class, which can include embedding audio comments explaining the learning objectives. Uploading this model into Blackboard can generate a class discussion, using various teaching techniques generating student responses within a discussion forum.

May 27: Office Hours from Home

Students sometimes cannot meet with faculty during set office hours to discuss assignments or class content. To accommodate scheduling conflicts, instructors can meet with students in real-time and see and hear each other using webcam technology in conjunction with Yahoo IM. In addition, visuals of sample documents or accessing a URL is sometimes necessary to reinforce difficult concepts.
