“Community of Inquiry in the Disciplines” Classroom teachers, professors of education and philosophy, professionals in the arts and sciences, and graduate students in those fields will present theoretical papers (philosophical essays or empirical studies) and/or demonstrations/workshops of community of inquiry classroom practices—related to one or more of the following themes:

Registration: You may pay for your registration on Wednesday, June 12th at the wine and cheese reception from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, held at Kopps Lounge or on Thursday morning at the Continental breakfast at the IAPC from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Directions: Montclair State University is
on Valley Rd. and Normal Ave., Upper Montclair, N.J., one mile south of
the junction of Routes 3 and 46. For more detailed information, including

Parking: Parking at MSU is available for
NAACI participants. Please enter the University through the Normal
Avenue entrance and stop at the parking attendant booth for a permit.
Dorm Rooms: A few dorm rooms are still available. Contact Joanne Matkowski if you would like to reserve a room. For those with reservations, you will be staying in Webster Hall. The rooms are double occupancy and linens are provided. Payment for your room can be made to the IAPC with your registration. New Jersey Teachers attending this conference will
be certified for 15 Professional Development Hours (for the full 3-day
conference) or 5 Hours (for Saturday only).

Since it’s founding in Austin, Texas in the Spring
of 1994, NAACI has sought to bring together like-minded scholars and teachers
to enhance educational theory and practice through Community of Inquiry,
expanding the pioneering work of Matthew Lipman and others in Philosophy
for Children to all interested in community of inquiry approaches to teaching
and learning.
