Rollin David Reese

 

 

Rollin David Reese, Sr. was born on July 15, 1920 in Kenbridge Virginia.  While Rollin and his twin, Preston, were young, the family moved to Bloomfield, New Jersey. 

Rollin completed his public school education in Bloomfield.  He studied at Rutgers University, and was graduated from the McAllister School of Embalming of New York, New York.  He also studied organ and piano at the Bicknel School of Music in Bloomfield.

He married Margaret Webb of Montclair.  From this union, one son, Rollin David Reese, Jr. ("Skip") was born.

He was a member, organist and choir director of Union Baptist Church in Bloomfield for many years.  An organ was purchased by Union Baptist Church and dedicated to him for his outstanding music ability.  Rollin was also organist at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.

He was a member of the American Guild of Organists and the National Association of Accountants among many local and national organizations.

Rollin passed away on Monday, November 25, 1996 at Kessler's Health Center in Cedar Grove, New Jersey.

His survivors include: his wife, Margaret Webb Reese; his son, Skip Reese; his granddaughter, Tiffani Reese-Robinson; and two great-grandsons, Jalen Sampson and Chance Neal.
