ERRATA

PLEASE NOTE:  I tried to do my best to avoid errors, but unfortunately there are some spelling errors (for instance, Melitaea on p. 128, Kirinia on p. 146, aethiops on p. 158, thorax on p.16, Leptidea and Araschnia on p. 13, mnemosyne on p. 20, alceae on p. 180, Lafranchis in several pages and possibly a couple of others).  While a small number of such minor errors might be expected (and I hope forgiven!) in the first edition--there are several errors that should be especially noted, because they pertain to identification of species:

  1. On p. 16, under Eastern Festoon, the sentence "Also, abdomen lacks conspicuous orange bars found on Eastern Steppe Festoon" should have been deleted.

  2. On p. 63, the name of the butterfly on photo numbered 3 should have been Indian Grass Blue, not Indian Desert Blue.

  3. On. p. 37, the butterfly on photo #4 is not Dappled White--it is the similar Eastern Bath White...

  4. On p. 128, under Algerian Fritillary, the second line should read, "and more rounded forewing apex and..." (apex is omitted in the guide).

  5. On p. 144, under Violet Fritillary, the word "diagnostic" should have been removed.  Many Boloria species have the characteristic (pointed hindwing apex) mentioned.

Thanks to those friends who have pointed these errata, especially Tristan Lafranchis, Vildan Bozaci and Cedric Mroczko.  I will certainly make the necessary corrections if we publish the second edition.
