Function

The Academic Computing Committee (ACC) makes recommendations on policies and resources necessary to establish and maintain an effective academic computing support system to serve the needs of academic researchers, classroom instructors, and students.  The committee also reviews long-range plans for strengthening academic computing facilities, improving access and usage of these facilities, and meeting faculty training needs.

The ACC reports to the University Senate through the Chairperson of the Academic Affairs Council and serves in an advisory role to the Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs on academic computing matters.

Membership

Proxy members have voting privileges when their college representative or Dean is absent but are welcome at all meetings.  All members, including Guests, receive email notice of meetings, agendas, and draft minutes as well as hard copy of final minutes and supplemental materials.  Hard copy of final minutes is also sent to the chairs of the Senate Academic Affairs Council and the Senate Committee on Committees, to the Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs, to the Vice-President for Budget, Planning and Information Technology, and to the Associate Vice-President for Information Technology.

The Committee usually meets the second Monday of each month, with exceptions listed on the meeting schedule.  Meetings are held in the Special Collections Room on the second floor of Sprague Library.  During the academic year, meetings convene at 3:00 p.m.
